AERIAL ARTS

OUR STORY
With the rise of productions like Cirque du Soleil and popular dance competition shows, the entertainment industry has seen a growing demand for versatile performers who can seamlessly blend dance, acrobatics, and aerial arts. Aerial disciplines, such as aerial hoop (lyra), silks, and trapeze, have become essential components of modern stage and screen productions, making well-rounded training more valuable than ever.

At Goddards, we believe versatility is the key to standing out.

Aerial Arts is a dynamic and powerful addition to any dancer’s training. Our Aerial and Acro classes offer a safe, fun, and structured environment where students can build strength, flexibility, coordination, and self-confidence. Aerial hoop and silks, in particular, challenge dancers to develop core strength, control, and spatial awareness, while also encouraging creativity and grace in the air. Training in these disciplines helps dancers become fearless, expressive, and adaptable, skills that are highly transferable to both stage and life.

Our instructors are extensively trained and certified in Aerial Arts by Acrobatic Arts through Meaghan Wegg of Cirque du Soleil, and bring a wealth of experience in both aerial and dance technique. You can trust that your child is learning from professionals dedicated to safety, proper progression, and inspiring artistic expression.

Classes are available for students aged 4 and up, with small class sizes limited to 6 dancers per session to ensure individual attention and safety. Private lessons are also available.

Silks
Introduction

At Goddards, we combine the power of athletic training with the creativity of performance to give dancers and movers of all ages a truly unforgettable experience. Whether you’re a young beginner or an adult looking for a unique way to build strength, confidence, and flexibility, our aerial program is designed to inspire, challenge, and empower.
HOOP/LYRA

The Aerial Hoop, also known as a Lyra hoop, is a circus apparatus used to perform beautiful movements, tricks and shapes in the air. Similar to a circular trapeze.

SILKS

Aerial silks (also known as aerial contortion, aerial ribbons, aerial tissues, fabric, ribbon, or tissu) is a type of performance in which one or more artists perform aerial acrobatics while hanging from a specialist fabric.

SLING

Aerial sling and hammock dance belong to the discipline of aerial dance. The major difference between the two is aerial sling is hung with a swivel, which gives the possibility for the dancer to spin during the dance; hammock dance is usually hung with two points, focusing more on static movement to dance with the hammock.
